It
is almost three months now ever since Manny Pacquiao fell to Floyd
Mayweather Jr. The two squared off at the MGM Grand Arena on May 2 in
what media advertised as the “Fight of the Century.” Although
Pretty Boy has already picked a new opponent in Andre Berto, a fight
which he says is the last in his career, talks of a rematch with
Manny Pacquiao are still swirling around.
This
discussion got only bigger when Manny Pacquiao told Japanese press
this week that he is still open on having a second dance with Floyd
Mayweather Jr.
"I'd
like to concentrate my efforts on working as a politician this year,
and want to fight Mayweather in a rematch," Pacquiao told
Fightnews.com. "I'll be ready for that mentally and physically
next year. I'll show a better performance against him than in the
first encounter."
Right
now, Manny Pacquiao is undergoing self rehabilitation while working
on his humanitarian and political projects in his country. Just a few
days ago, he was in Japan to power his country in their bid to host
the 2019 FIBA World Cup. They eventually lost to China.
Floyd
Mayweather Jr., on the other hand, has returned to training with his
fight with Berto, a two-time Welterweight champion and current WBA
Welterweight Interim Champion, set on September 12. Floyd Mayweather
Jr is eying to equal the 49-0 record of the late heavyweight champion
Rocky Marciano.
