The Calgary Flames have announced that they have completed the signing of the 25-year-old centre Lance Bouma to a three-year contract extension.
After a salary arbitration between Bouma and the club, they have agreed on a reported $6.6 million deal. Bouma is believed to be asking $2.5 million per season, while the club countered at $1.5 million.
Both sides presented their cases last Wednesday and within the 48-hour before the arbitrator come up with a decision, the deal between the club and the ice hockey pro was struck.
The 6-1, 210-pound winger skated in 78 games for the Flames last season. He made 16 goals and 18 assists for a total of 34 points. He accepted a one-year $775,000 deal last summer, but increased his value after being a surprising piece in their recent league campaign.
Bouma was selected by the Alberta, Canada-based team as the 78th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
