The best of the bests in the motorcycling world would once again meet at the Mugello Circuit for the Italian MotoGP.
An epic campaign is expected this weekend as current number one Valentino Rossi is set to keep a tight rein on the top spot with a home advantage. Being dubbed as one of the most successful moto racers of all time, the Italian is more determined to finish on the center of the podium.
He will be competing against his fellow Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo, who has claimed a back-to-back success in the Spanish and French Grand Prix. The former world champion is just a few points behind his teammate even with a visor and health issues that made the start of his season a tough one.
The factory Ducati team headed by Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso had the privileged of trying the circuit. This private testing could have been crucial and help them to claim their first win of the year.
Dovizioso finished 3rd in the recently concluded French Grand Prix. His win in Le Mans seal him in third overall standings and proved that Ducati are back to their winning ways.
On the other hand, Iannone who's continuously battling injuries assured that nothing can stop him. He was involved in a fierce battle at Le Mans with Honda's Marc Marquez as they battled for the fourth spot which the latter eventually captured. Honda had a rough weekend, having Marquez' finish as their best result and Dani Pedrosa crashed out of the race.
