Floyd
Mayweather Jr will fight Andre Berto next month, putting in line
again his clean 48-0 record. This September 12 bout is also his last,
he claims. In recent interviews, Floyd's camp said the undefeated
American will hang his gloves after Andre Berto regardless of the
result.
Keith
Thurman does not believe any of it though. The current WBA
Welterweight Champion of the World is skeptical about Floyd
Mayweather Jr's intention to retire after fighting Andre Berto in Las
Vegas. Thurman thinks it will only be the end of Floyd's contract
with Showtime Sports.
“There
is no evidence that it [Berto] will be his final opponent,” Thurman
said in an interiview with Boxing News. “It’s the final fight of
his Showtime contract that he signed three years ago. That is what it
is officially, it does not mean it is the final fight of Floyd
Mayweather’s career – that is up to him.”
Although
Keith Thurman is not high about Floyd Mayweather Jr retiring after
his fight next month, he believes Pretty Boy does not have anything
to prove at all in match against Berto, especially with his win
against Manny Pacquiao.
“As
far as him fighting Berto, he just got done fighting Manny Pacquiao.
I’m learning, just from my little bit of time of being in the
spotlight – and trying to entertain everybody in the world of
boxing – that at the end of the day, no matter who you fight, you
don’t please everybody.”
