Swatch Major Series Beach Volleyball featured the number-one seed Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes, who took their sixth
consecutive victory in the FIVB World Tour with a 2-1 win
against Canada. The Brazilians finished the job in their
seventh match point, winning the third set 15-12.
Meanwhile, in the men's division, Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of The Netherlands won their match against Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter.
The first ever FIVB World Tour final between Canada and Netherlands started with an emphatic victory for the Dutch favourites as they took the first set 21-15. Brouwer and Meeuwsen did not let up for a moment. They oozed confidence, putting on a devastating display of power play to take the second set 21-13 and sealed the gold with a straight-sets victory.
Despite suffering an early wobble after losing their first semi-final set to the Italian surprise package of Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula, Brouwer and Meeuwsen began to show as the match progressed and they eventually prevailed 21-23, 21-18, 15-13 against the stubborn 31st seeds.
