After a huge upset in Paris, nine-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal slid down to No. 10 in the latest ATP rankings. Thus, marking his lowest position since he was 11th as a teenager in April 2005.
Recently crowned champion Stan Wawrinka, who outplayed Novak Djokovic went up from No. 9 to No. 4, one step short from his highest ranking in January 2014.
Despite being defeated by Wawrinka in the Roland Garros finals, Djokovic remained at the top with a huge advantage over Roger Federer, who stayed at No. 2. The Serbian maintained a healthy lead and prevented Nadal from coveting his 10th title in Paris by defeating him in the quarterfinals.
British Andy Murray is still at the 3rd place while Japanese Kei Nishikori is at No. 5.
Serena Williams, who’s fresh with her 20th Grand Slam title, is a force to be reckoned with at No. 1 followed by Czech professional Petra Kvitova who rose to two places up.
William’s latest victim, Lucie Safarova moved from No. 13 to No.7. A career-best for the 28-year old who also had her first Major final.
Tennis star and former defending champion Maria Sharapova dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 after losing to Sarafova in Round 4. Meanwhile, Simona Halep did enough to stay at No. 3, and Caroline Wozniacki at No. 5.
