Fans
and critics alike have polarizing review of the first and second
season of HBO TV series “True Detective.” For acclaimed director
Quentin Tarantino, both seasons suck.
If
the audience is divided about the two, the director is completely not
high on either seasons. He even thinks both runs of “True
Detective” are 'really boring.'
“I
tried to watch the first episode of season one, and I didn’t get
into it at all,” he said in a lengthy interview with New York
Magazine's “In Conversation.”
“I
thought it was really boring. And season two looks awful. Just the
trailer — all these handsome actors trying to not be handsome and
walking around looking like the weight of the world is on their
shoulders. It’s so serious, and they’re so tortured, trying to
look miserable with their mustaches and grungy clothes.”
While
Tarantino, who is currently promoting his new Western film “The
Hateful Eight” is not amused by the HBO drama, he found solace in
Aaron Sorkin's “The Newsroom.”
“Now,
the HBO show I loved was Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom,” said the
award-winning director.
“That
was the only show that I literally watched three times. I would watch
it at seven o’clock on Sunday, when the new one would come on. Then
after it was over, I’d watch it all over again. Then I would
usually end up watching it once during the week, just so I could
listen to the dialogue one more time.”
The
first one, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, had the
public raving. It was even considered as one of the best drama series
in recent years. Critics are more specific about the brilliance of
its storyline, dialogue and portrayal of the two main actors. The
second one, which starred Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel
McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch, did not have the same success. It was
mostly panned for its convoluted plot.
