The Anaheim Ducks have officially announced the signing of forward Chris Stewart.
Stewart agreed to a one-year contract with an undisclosed amount. However, Orange County Register reported that the deal is worth $1.7 million.
The 27-year-old Canadian national was picked by the Colorado Avalanche as the 18th overall in the 2006 NHL Draft. Since then he has made a total of 129 goals and 264 points in the 463 NHL games he played in four different teams, the Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild.
The newly transferred right winger was acquired by the Wild on March 2 for a second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. He had 3 goals and 11 points for Minnesota, but was held to two assists in the eight games he played at the Stanley Cup Playoffs. An upper-body injury he sustained in Game 2 of the Western Conference second round against the Chicago Blackhawks prematurely ended his season.
Stewart will be looking to fill the gap left by Kyle Palmieri and Emerson Etem's trades, and free agent Matt Beleskey who moved to the Boston Bruins. Anaheim also acquired forward Carl Hagelin after sending Etem to New York.
