Proctor, Minnesota's city councilor Travis White believes that his hometown should be home to a National Hockey League expansion team.
Proctor is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota with a population of just over 3,000 in the 2010 census. However, it has an ideal location just outside of Duluth and around four and half hours away from Grand Forks, North Dakota.
"Hockey is the number one sports in northern Minnesota," White was quoted by the Grand Forks Herald.
"With the window of opportunity here where the NHL is looking at expanding and the history that we have up here of hockey, it would be a no-brainer."
A few days ago White aired out his proposal to bring an NHL team to Proctor and build an arena for it.
"You look at Grand Forks, the University of North Dakota, their hockey team brings in about 11,600 fans to each home game, while the lowest NHL team brings in 11,200. That's part of the market for an NHL team up here," White said to FOX 21.
The city might be able to apply for an expansion team, but actually building one can be tricky with the requisite $500 million.
