Despite his height, Ant-Man proved that his strength is enough to topple his opponents at this weekend's box office.
The Paul Rudd film brought an estimated $58 million, which was good enough to take the No.1 spot from Minions.
However, despite being number one, Ant-Man's debut pales in comparison to the other Marvel Comics movies. It is believed to be the lowest domestic debut since The Incredible Hulk in 2008. It came a few million shy of Captain America: The First Avenger's modest $65 million opening.
Considering that the tiny superhero is nowhere near as famous as Iron Man or Captain America, the Marvel Studios is still successful in introducing a relatively unknown character into the big screen.
Here are the weekend estimates via Rentrak:
1. Ant-Man $58 million
2. Minions $50.4 million
3. Trainwreck $30.2 million
4. Inside Out $11.7 million
5. Jurassic World $11.4 million
6. Terminator Genisys $5.4 million
7. Magic Mike XXL $4.5 million
8. Gallows $4 million
9. Ted 2 $2.7 million
10. Mr. Holmes $2.5 million
10. Mr. Holmes $2.5 million
