Resurrected in Due Time
With
a 4-1 lead in their quarterfinal match up with VfL Wolfsburg, Napoli's
coach Rafael Benitez is more determined to win a spot in the semifinals.
“The
club, the players and me have the same aim – we want to win, nothing
else. Winning this competition would be significant because it would
mean qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League.”
S.S.C.
Napoli's resurgence couldn't have come at a more perfect time. After
two losses and a draw in Serie A and a knockout from the Italian Cup,
they are now on a run for three consecutive wins across all competitions
with 10 goals and a conceded goal.
With
their victory against the German side, the Italians are now closer to
their second European trophy, after the great Diego Maradona nabbed it
in 1989.
“I believe in miracles but Wolfsburg must be perfect,” coach Dieter Hecking said.
Obstacles
for the Bundesliga team has been piling up as the final leg of the
fight is drawing nearer. The task of overcoming a three-goal deficit has
been made even more difficult with the injuries of midfielder Kevin de
Bruyne and forward Andre Schuerrle.
Will Die Wölfe be able to make a huge comeback away from home?
