Manchester
United were contented into a 0-0 draw by Newcastle United last night
in Old Trafford. It was not an ideal result for a club of Red Devils'
standards. However, manager Louis van Gaal defended their performance
and said they don't need another striker despite the lack of goals.
In fact, he believes they were the best team in all the games they
played so far.
"We
were three times the best team [in games this season]. My worry is
that we have to dominate the opponent,” the Dutch coach said in
post match interview.
Manchester
United legend Paul Scholes has completely view though. He is not
pleased with the way things are going for his former club. The
retired English midfielder even suggested that Louis van Gaal should
make significant changes in the squad.
‘He
said ‘fantastic’ a few times. I didn’t really see anything
fantastic about it at all,’ said Scholes.
‘You’re
at home against Newcastle, you’re expected to win the game. The
visiting keeper has one save to make. Fantastic? No, not for me.”
Paul
Scholes even compared United's performance to rivals Manchester City
who so far have recorded six goals in two games.
"Man
City frighten me, the goals you see in that team is incredible. I
look at our team and I just don’t see the same goal threat. I don’t
see goals from anywhere," he said.
"If
Wayne’s (Rooney) not scoring, who is going to score? Chicarito
possibly, we know Memphis is capable. But I just don’t think
everybody is chipping in to the goal count which is what you need."
