The
latest Godzilla movie was both a commercial and critical success. The
science-fiction monster film, a reboot of the Godzilla franchise, was
commended by critics for its slow pace and build up and reliance on
human drama. Although the 2014 movie is a huge success, one of its
stars is not happy with the way his character was treated.

Bad star Bryan Cranston played Joe Brody, the father of lead star
Ford. Joe was the former lead engineer at the Janjira nuclear plant
until its destruction in 1999 who were the first one to have a clue
about a monster living under the water. This character of Cranston's
died in the middle part of the 2-hour movie, and Cranston is not
happy about it. He even calls it 'a waste.'
Cranston
thinks the director and the writer could have done something better
about Joe Brody's story arc. He could have lived a little longer to
bond with his son Ford.
"That
character dying at that time was a mistake," the actor said
during a Nerdist podcast recording (via Digital Spy). "I knew it
when I read it. When I read it I said, 'Oh, page 50 this character
who was the emotional core at the center, that was guiding the
audience in the story up to that point - he dies?' What a waste."
