Charles Aranguiz has completed his transfer from the Brazilian outfit Internacional to Bayer Leverkusen. He officially signed with the Bundesliga club after being heavily linked to a number of Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Leicester City.
In the end, the Chile international midfielder agreed to a five-year contract with the Germans following his medical on Wednesday.
"We're pleased that our persistence paid off and that Charles Aránguiz has decided to join us," Leverkusen's general manager Michael Schade is quoted by the club's official website.
"We've been focusing our efforts on realising this transfer for a long time now and we were not really helped by the player’s extraordinary performances both in the Copa and for his club.
"That makes it all the more satisfying now to have beaten off international competition for his signature."
The 26-year-old also expressed his delight on joining the BayArena, "The Bundesliga is one of the best and most attractive leagues in the world and Bayer 04 has been one of the top clubs for years.
"I also see Leverkusen giving me the big chance of playing in the Champions League. Leverkusen have almost been in it every year and we want to make to the group stage again this year. I'm looking forward to this huge challenge in a new country."
