Argentina's Manu Ginobili, Carlos Delfino to miss FIBA Americas

Manu Ginobili sitting out FIBA Americans for Argentina
The season of Olympic qualifying tournaments continues with Australia already in, AfroBasket still going on, EuroBasket to start next month, and the FIBA Americas, where North and South American teams will try to join already qualified USA (World Cup winners) and Brazil (host nation) in Rio.

The Argentines will try to replicate their gold medal finish in Greece in 2004 or settle for bronze just like they did in 2008 in China. Now, Argentina will be playing for a spot in the Rio Olympics without a couple of stars, Manu Ginobili and Carlos Delfino.

Ginobili is already 38 years old and will be on his 20th NBA season which is also likely to be his last. However, Gregg Popovich will still be counting on his creative playmaking off the bench and doesn't want the four-time NBA champion worn down.

On the other hand, Delfino has battled injuries and hasn't been on an NBA court since 2013. The former Houston Rocket is currently unsigned and not healthy enough to pitch in much.

Argentina still has Luis Scola, but their 'golden team' who has raised their basketball caliber in a different level has already started to age. The question is, will the young guns be able to compete against international teams like USA and Spain?
