The long wait is over. One of the most awaited movies this summer, Southpaw is set to premiere next week.
Jake Gyllenhaal takes on a new role as a determined boxer who's seeking his redemption. The film is helmed by Training Day director Antoine Fuqua.
The film focuses on the compelling story of light heavyweight boxing champ Billy "The Great" Hope, played by Gyllenhaal. The narrative tells how Hope has seemingly has it all. At the beginning he has an impressive career, a wife, a daughter and a grand lifestyle, when tragedy strikes and things gone horribly wrong.
Hope was left with no choice but to trust a run-down local gym and a retired fighter and trainer of amateur boxers in order to gain back a semblance of his old life.
Gyllenhaal's preparation for the movie even involved an intensive training at Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s boxing center in Atlanta. The Southpaw's cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence, Miguel Gomez, Victor Ortiz, Asia Fuqua, Beau Knapp and Skylan Brooks.
