After a sluggish 0-7 start, the Golden State Warriors was able to catch up and play tremendously for the rest of the Game 4 to tie up their final series with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The latter took a Warriors’ home game and now the Cali side reciprocated.
Stephen Curry, who had a slow start validated his MVP award when he made crucial plays ending with 22 big points. His output was duplicated by Andre Iguodala, who replaced Andrew Bogut in the starting lineup. It was a bold move by Dubs’ coach Steve Kerr, but proved to be effective as he declared, "He's (Iguodala) been our best player through four games."
In their two previous wins, the Eastern champs were able to dictate the pace, allowing LeBron James to lead masterfully and let Matthew Dellavedova and his pesky defense stop Curry. However, the Western team went small in this one which allowed them to break through their opponent’s defense and put them in the position to play faster and chase offense.
LeBron finished with 20 points, which is only half of his production in Game 3. Same thing happened with his “Australian sidekick” who only had 10 of his previous 20.
Now that they are tied up at 2-2, Cleveland’s pride believes that this is not the biggest challenge of his career.
"Biggest challenge of my career was being down 3-2 going into Boston [in 2012]," LeBron said at the post-game conference. "That's probably the biggest challenge of my career. Game 5 at Golden State is not that big when it comes to going to Boston and you lose multiple times in that arena, and the franchise that I was with at the time had never won a playoff game in Boston. Now that's pretty challenging. So I've been through a little bit in my pretty cool career."
When he was still with the Miami Heat, LeBron and his team faced elimination in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He brought his squad to a major comeback by making one of the most impressive games of his career, scoring 45 points on 19-of-26 shooting. The Heat eventually won Game 6 and 7 which then lead LeBron to his first ever championship.
With their huge 103-82 victory at the Quicken Loans Arena, the Warriors are looking to take the lead as they host the Cavaliers at home in Oakland. They are fully prepared to give their best shot in order to nab the much-coveted NBA title.
“We understand the commitment and the sacrifice we need to make,” Iguodala said.
