Manchester City's bid for 20-year old striker Raheem Sterling has reportedly been turned down by Liverpool. The deal is supposedly priced at £25m which is said to be lower that what the Reds want.
The offer came right after Man City's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak promised to invest more in players this summer.
"You will see us in the market bringing in high-quality individuals that fit within what we are aspiring to," he said.
"We want a squad which is able and has the capability and quality to win the Premier League, to compete and win the Champions League and be able to go all the way in two cup competitions in England."
It is greatly believed that the club's move to get Sterling is related to their plan to avoid breaking UEFA rules which require a quota for homegrown players in each squad.
Last month, Liverpool's boss Brendan Rodgers said that he expected Sterling to stay with the team until his contract expires in 2017. The former Golden Boy awardee recently rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal to stay at Anfield which makes the like of Man City try to gain his services.
At this moment, Liverpool are holding out £50m for Sterling and are waiting for bids from Real Madrid and Arsenal who also have expressed interest for the footballer.
