Rumors about a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are still continuously spreading. However, no confirmation from both camps have been issued.
Mayweather have already insisted that his last fight will be on September and his retirement is likely to happen soon. Reports have also suggested that the undefeated champion has set his sights on Amir Khan or on a second fight with Canelo Alvarez. A rematch with Puerto Rican brawler Miguel Cotto is also said to be a possibility.
It was reported in ESPN that Khan's claimed fight with Mayweather will be confirmed in two weeks. This seems to be the loudest rumor to date as Floyd wants a lighter final fight to enable him to exit boxing in a high note. A rematch with either Cotto or Canelo, who are also speculated to face each other this winter, would be a bigger risk for his 48-0 record than going up against Khan.
Meanwhile, Boxing News 24's stated that former Pacquiao and current Mayweather strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza said that the latter should not step into the ring with the former unless he changed his coach, crew, and all the people around him.
As for Pacquiao, Fight Saga's Lee Cleveland suggested that his next fight should be a tune-up first before going for a rematch with Mayweather. Roach is dismissing this possibility, but Cleveland believes that Manny is risking to re-injure his shoulder or succumbing to another embarrassing mega fight loss if he insists on going back in the ring right away with Mayweather.
