Sources told ESPN.com that Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has chosen to opt out of his deal with the Eastern team.
The 26-year-old preferred to forego the last year of his contract with the Cavs. He is supposed to get $16.7 million next season should he chose to stay.
The 2008 fifth overall draft pick missed most of the team's playoff campaign. His first season with LeBron James ended prematurely when he dislocated his shoulder when Kelly Olynyk pulled down his left arm and yanked it out of the socket during the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics.
After suffering the injury, Love was asked if he would return to the Cavaliers next season or if he would make a run in free agency.
"Yes," the California-born said on June 5 "I want to win."
This may not be the case as he chose to be a free agent. However, this season's runner-ups are going to try and resign him. He had recorded an average of 16.4 points and 9.7 rebounds this season, which makes the like of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Celtics, and the Portland Trail Blazers most likely to pursue him.
