Dutch MotoGP at Assen to be moved on Sundays

Ahead of the Dutch MotoGP at Assen, the TT Board has decided to move the event on a Sunday like all other championship races. They will abandon the traditional Saturday race slot starting next year and will switch to a Friday-Sunday format to attract more spectators.

"The decision to move the race to Sunday was made out of sheer necessity," the TT Board said in a statement.

"In this competitive environment, the TT Assen can only hold its own by increasing the number of visitors.

"Moving the TT to Sunday is a better fit with the pattern of other events in racing.

"A top sporting event on a Sunday is more attractive than on a Saturday, and there is also more media exposure, which is something the TT will definitely benefit from."

The racers had a free practice at the circuit where the top 10 riders will receive direct access to the final qualifying session.
