David Ferrer pulls out of Wimbledon with elbow injury

A couple of days before the Wimbledon starts, eighth seed David Ferrer has withdrawn from the competition.

The 33-year old Spaniard has pulled out of the Grand Slam due to an elbow injury he hasn't recovered from yet.

Ferrer will be replaced by lucky loser Luca Vanni of Italy. He will be facing British wild-card entry James Ward in the first round at the All England Club.

Ferrer has not won in any Majors, but has reached the finals of the Roland Garros in 2013 where he eventually lost to compatriot Rafael Nadal.

Wimbledon will commence with defending champion Novak Djokovic plays against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber at the Centre Court.
