According to a statement released by Spike TV, the network broadcast the fight has reached the highest point of the telecast was during the 11:00-11:15 p.m. ET quarter hour, netting 1,120,000 viewers.
The fight saw Amir Khan beat Chris Algieri in 12 rounds to win a unanimous decision. The telecast,
including the re-broadcast that immediately followed the live airing,
topped 1,133,000 total views.
The event was promoted by Premier Boxing Champions, the newest company headed by management guru Al Haymon that has taken the sport by storm during the first half of 2015. Considering that “King” Khan has yet to become the sort of superstar that he is abroad, and with Algieri still a relative unknown to the masses, these are terrific numbers for the long-struggling sport of boxing.
