Major League Baseball’s draft has been a mystery despite this being the 50th anniversary of the event. By the time when M.L.B.’s commissioner Rob Manfred announce who the Arizona Diamondbacks have taken with the No. 1 pick.
One of the problems with the new factor is the players had a less media exposure than their counterparts in the other major sports, plus the teams occasionally choose a player who is not the consensus top talent.
Brendan Rogers, has been the apple of the eye this year to become the No.1 pick, and will be one of the four players expected to be in attendance at the draft. Though for some they believe that the Diamondbacks will not take him.Joining Rogers in person at the draft will be Garrett Whitley, Ashe Russell and Mike Nikorak.
Rogers has a rare shortstop who is strong defensively while projecting a middle-of-the-order bat. While Dansby Swanson from Vanderbilt. Swanson may not match
Rogers’s potential in the field and at the plate, but he is considered
closer to being ready for the major leagues.
Swanson is no safe bet to go No. 1, where he still have to compete with others and one of them is Stanford’s Mark Appel, he was the consensus top pick in 2012 in Houston Astros but the team took Carlos Correa, shortstop from Puerto Rico in what many assumed was an attempt to save money.
Astros’ selection of Brady Aiken, the first high school pitcher to be taken with the top pick since Brien Taylor in 1991. Aiken was unable to come to a contract agreement with the Astros.
