The much-awaited 2015 NBA Draft is already signed, sealed and delivered.
The future of the NBA looks bright with the 60 new recruits who were called one-by-one at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
As expected the Minnesota Timberwolves chose Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns as the number one pick. But as the Los Angeles Lakers announced the second overall selection, a lot of people were surprised to hear the name of Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell rather than Jahlil Okafor who then went to the 76ers in the third spot.
According to pre-draft talks and a lot of mock drafts, Okafor was believed to be chosen by the Timberwolves or by the Lakers. However, coach Byron Scott believes that D'Angelo would fit in the Staples Center.
"It wasn’t an easy decision either way. But it was a decision that either way we made, we would be in pretty good shape," Scott said. "I think Okafor is going to be a pretty good center in this league. I just think D’Angelo has a chance to be a superstar."
Reporters in Brooklyn easily shared Scott's compliments to the draftee to which he replied with, "I know my confidence got me over the hump plenty of times. For him to say that, I can’t do anything but respect it."
The Dallas Mavericks also made history as they acquired 7'2 Satnam Singh with the No. 52 pick as the first Indian-born player taken in the NBA draft.
