Sameer Verma cruised through the men's singles quarterfinals of the Vietnam Open Grand Prix Badminton after beating Shreyansh Jaiswal, but Indian mixed pair of Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan lost in Ho Chi Minh city on Thursday.
It took Verma an hour and eight minutes to defeat Jaiswal 20-22, 26-24, 21-17, while Vishnu and Balan duo lost to Indonesia's Alfian Eko Prasetya and Annisa Saufika 9-21 20-22 in just half an hour.
With 50,000 USD on the line Kaixiang Huang and Sijie Wang of China overcame men's doubles duo of Akshay Dewalkar and Pranaav Jerry Chopra in just a matter of 35 minutes 21-12 21-14.
Other big names in India badminton -- Ajay Jayaram, B Sai Praneeth and R M V Gurusaidutt, bowed out of the tournament as they lost their respective men's singles second round matches.
