Is
Neymar's transfer to Manchester United happening or not? For now, the
Barcelona star will stay at Camp Nou. His agent has denied rumours he
will move to Old Trafford. Barcelona president Joseph Maria Bartomeu
also revealed they are now working on a contract extension for the
Brazilian forward.
The
keyword here is “for now.” According to a South American football
expert, a Neymar transfer to Manchester United could materialize in
two years time. Tim Vickery, BBC Sport’s South American football
expert, said there will come a time Neymar will want to become number
one and his top destination is England.
“At
the moment Neymar is very happy where he is but he’s in the shadow
of Lionel Messi. That’s fine for now but if it’s still the case
in one or two years’ time, he might want to go somewhere where he’s
going to be the big number one,” Vickery said according to a report
by the Daily
Star.
“England
is obviously a potential in a year or two years’ time. That’s the
game I think United are playing - establishing an interest, making it
clear that they really want this player and are prepared to play big
money.”
Right
now, he is playing number 2 (or 3 because of Luis Suarez, but still
debatable) behind Lionel Messi. In Brazil, he is the default no. 1.
Manchester
United coach Louis van Gaal has made it known recently that he wants
to sign a world class player and Neymar is someone who he thinks
'fits the bill.' Also, if there is a club who have the machinery to
buy a player that is of Neymar's calibre, Manchester United will be
on top of that list.
