Last week, five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather stopped by and guested at ESPN Deportes. His appearance is part of the huge promotion for his upcoming fight with Andre Berto. Mayweather dubbed the September 12th bout as his last.
In the sports television show, the undefeated boxer was asked to rank the top five boxers of all time. And here's how his list turned out:
1. Floyd Mayweather
2. Roberto Duran
3. Pernell Whitaker
4. Julio Cesar Chavez
5. Muhammad Ali
Considering that he thinks of himself as the The Best Ever (TBE), it came as no surprise that he had put himself at the top. However, it was shocking to see Muhammad Ali only at No.5. A lot of fans and sports analysts think he's the best boxer of all time, so putting him at the last surely earned Mayweather a good number of raised eyebrows.
Mayweather explained that he placed Ali on the fifth because the 73-year-old legend only fought in one weight class and because he lost to Leon Spinks when "Spinks only had seven fights when he beat him." It can also be noted that Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard were not mentioned.
