Southampton are reportedly interested to sign Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka.
Goretzka became one of the most highly-rated youngsters in German football since moving to Schalke two years ago, but his progress was halted when injuries restricted him to just two competitive appearances last season.
However, a report suggests that Southampton are prepared to bid £11.2m for the 20-year-old after sending a scout to watch him play against FC Twente.
Meanwhile Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt said made his intentions clear that "We do not have the intention to sell Leon, [he] is under contract at our club."
