Spain men's and women's teams took the first places in the FIBA 3x3 U18 European Championships Qualifier held in Riccione, Italy on 25-26 July 2015.
Both teams have shown dominance having only one defeat in the group stage.
The Spanish women triumphed over the Belgians 11-8 including Nora O'Sullivan, who made headlines over the weekend with her fancy dribbling skills and no-look passes. Lucia Alonso led the Spaniards with her constant penetrations and great assists.
Meanwhile, the men's final game was a close call. Spain narrowly escaped Poland 19-16 with long-range shots. Nil Bria who already stole the show at the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships, finishing fourth in Debrecen, Hungary on June 4-7 was crucial to Spain's victory. However, it was Carlos Hidalgo who sealed the win for them.
The fifth-place game between Georgia and Serbia which ended 19-15 was also a thriller. Kote Bitsadze was unstoppable for Georgia and helped his country nabbed the last spot for the FIBA 3x3 U18 European Championships in Minsk, Belarus despite Serbia's big man Sasa Vuksanovic's one-man show.
Qualified teams from Riccione, Spain, Poland, Georgia, Turkey and Italy will be joining the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Lithuania, Russia, Belgium and Germany, who qualified last week in Amsterdam. On the other hand, in the women's category, Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, Germany and Italy will meet the previously-qualified Lithuania, Poland, Israel, the Netherlands and Estonia in Belarus.
