"It's hard to feel excited beating someone you root for all the time and you love and is your best friend in the whole world. It definitely doesn't get easier to play her but I was thinking 'I'm 33 and she's just turned 35 and I don't know how many more moments like this we'll have'.
"It was such a great vibe, such a great situation to be in. I plan on playing for years but who knows if we'll have a chance to play again. But we're both playing really good.
"I definitely think it could present itself again. I just wanted to take the moment in. When we were eight years old, we dreamed of these moments. It was kind of surreal."
Serena will face Victoria Azarenka in the last eight of the competition.
