Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez refuted claims that defender Sergio Ramos will be moving soon to Manchester United. He claimed that he is "100%" sure that the Spaniard will stay with the La Liga side.
In the past few months, Ramos has been continually reported to be unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu, which interested the Premier League club who is believed to be eyeing the 29-year-old for quite some time.
Various speculations included that the Old Trafford side were looking for a swap deal that will involve Ramos and goalkeeper David de Gea. However, the talks have since stopped.
Benitez was resolute that the Seville, Andalusia native will still be part of Los Blancos in the upcoming 2015-16 season where he played since 2005.
"Sergio Ramos is our player and he is a key player for us," Benitez told reporters in a press conference. "I would like to see him at the beginning of the season playing for us. I think he will be crucial for us during the season.
"I am 100%. I insist it's clear for me and for the club that Sergio will be here. I have a lot of respect for [United manager] Louis van Gaal and football is a curious world, but Sergio Ramos will stay with us."
