Noah Juulsen signs contract with Montreal Canadiens

Canadiens sign 2015 top pick Juulsen to contract
The Montreal Canadiens have officially signed the first round and 26th overall pick Noah Juulsen.

The defenseman agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with an undisclosed amount to Michel Therrien's side.

"It's an amazing feeling," Juulsen said. "Everyone wants to have that opportunity, but not everyone does. I'm just lucky enough to have that opportunity."

While playing with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League in 2014-15, Juulsen recorded 52 points, nine goals and 43 assists to lead all the team's defensemen. His plus-22 rating was also second to forward Nikita Scherbak, who was chosen by the Canadiens in last year's draft.

Canadiens picked 18-year-old Juulsen last June 26 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. Since then he has participated in his first development camp and will join Canada's Junior Team summer development camp, which will make him a possible candidate to play in the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship.

"It's a great opportunity," Juulsen said. "There's not many '97s (birth year) that got the invite to that. I'm just going to go and do my best and see what happens."
