Former professional baseball outfielder and 13-time All-Star and three-time Home Run Derby champion, Ken Griffey Jr. claimed that the Home Run Derby is now bigger than the game itself.
According to tiqiq.com, ticket prices for the event have an average of $360.88 per ticket. This just goes to show that people are willing to pay to watch baseball's best hit home runs.
But the question of who will be participating in the Derby remains. Official list of players to partake in the gig is yet to be announced. So far, here are the latest updates on who's in and who's out.
IN
- Todd Frazier has been vocal on his willingness to participate, especially since he kind of have a hometown advantage. He also has 25 home runs so he's an easy shoe-in.
- Albert Pujols will be there for his sons want him to.
OUT
- Giancarlo Stanton is out in an injury.
- Bryce Harper will be by his father's side who's recovering from a torn rotator cuff.
- Nelson Cruz sees the Derby as too taxing and can hurt his team.
Some other players are still waiting to be asked like Cubs Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, Dodgers Joc Pederson, and Detroit's J.D. Martinez, and Yoenis Cespedes.
Who are you rooting for?
