Jonas Gutierrez claims Newcastle 'weren't very honest' with him

Jonas Gutierrez accuses Newcastle United of dishonesty last season
Former Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has aired out his sentiments regarding the way he was released last season.

The 32-year-old Argentine returned to the club mid-way through the season, after recovering from testicular cancer in March. He was then released at the end of the season following his strong performance at Newcastle's 2–0 victory at home to West Ham United. The victory wherein he assisted the first and scored the second goal which ensured that the Magpies will stay at the English top flight. Through a phone call to teammate Ryan Taylor by the then interim manager John Carver, Gutierrez learned of his release.

"Things weren't done in the best way, they weren't very honest. They didn't do things like I would have hoped, but that's now done and I'm looking forward. It's bothersome because I don't think it was the right way [to let me go], but that's it," Gutierrez is quoted by the Newcastle Chronicle.

"I'm looking forward and I feel comfortable training, I feel good physically, one can't look back, only forward, and give importance to the present. The most important thing is to continue building up my fitness with the idea of being able to return to Europe."

Gutierrez signed a five-year contract with the Newcastle in 2008 after playing with Mallorca for three years.
