The Los Angeles Times confirmed the resignation of LA Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto.
According to MLB.com Bill Stoneman will replace Dipoto as interim general manager for the Angels.
It was reported earlier that Dipoto was having conflicts with team staff. Reports surfaced that Dipoto and manager Mike Scioscia were not getting along which prompted a closed-door meeting that made the former upset. Some claimed that it rooted with Dipoto's dismay over team staff who he felt weren't putting scout information and data into use during game situations.
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN said that Dipoto gave owner Arte Moreno an ultimatum which apparently backfired and eventually led to his departure.
The Angels players were believed to be under the impression that their GM since 2011 was already out of the team during their game against the New York Yankees.
Angels first baseman Albert Pujols was asked about his reaction regarding the issue, "That's none of your guys' business. Whatever happened in the clubhouse stays in the clubhouse," Pujols said to Fox Sports West.
"You've got 25 grown men. You've got the front office. You've got coaches. Whoever got that leaked, that's really embarrassing," Pujols added. "We're supposed to be family here."
Multiple reports stated that Pujols was dismayed after the meeting last weekend, which urged him to say that this year's team wasn't as good as last year's.
“I don't need to talk about that. Who said I said that?" Pujols said. "I didn't say that, I can tell you that. I've freaking been in this league in 16 years. I would never disrespect the team. If somebody wrote that, that's pretty wrong. Whoever. I haven't read that story and I would never waste my time on that..."
