Honda test rider Hiroshi Aoyama will return to the MotoGP scene to substitute for Cardion team's Karel Abraham. Aoyama will be racing next weekend in the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.
The Japanese previously replaced factory Honda Dani Pedrosa for three races when the 2011 German MotoGP winner underwent and recovered from an arm surgery.
Aoyama won the 250cc world championship in 2009, but failed to make an impression in the MotoGP world.
Abraham has been ruled out of the race after he was forced to skip rounds when he crashed in practice at Barcelona and dislocated one of his toes.
Cardion, initially attempted to ask Superbike front-runner Michael van der Mark to replace Abraham at Assen, but failed to complete a deal with the Dutch rider. They eventually decided to sit the race out.
