Costa Rica and Jamaica open Gold Cup campaign with a draw

Costa Rica and Jamaica draw first match
Jamaica opened their Gold Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica in California.

La Sele struck in the 13th minute, from a long throw-in on the left from Kemar Lawrence. The New York Red Bulls defender looped the ball into the box and Garath McCleary managed to net it with a Wes Morgan's foot deflection.

Paulo Wanchope's side revenge came in the 33rd minute when Roy Miller headed the ball inside the right post with an assist by David Ramirez. After giving a hand in their first goal, Ramirez scored his own and gave Costa Rica their lead in the 37th minute. Celso Borges passed the ball from midfield over the backline which Ramirez successfully puts inside the net.

Jamaica who had lost all of their three matches in the Copa America last month didn't easily give up. They pulled even just three minutes into the second half with an electric run from Jobi McAnuff into the box.

Costa Rica had dominated the rest of the match and had three outstanding opportunities to get the three points, while the Ticos had a lone clear chance but were unsuccessful.

At the end of the regulation, Costa Rica and Jamaica were given a point apiece to currently tie each other in Group B.
