Roma have reached a deal with Arsenal to acquire the services of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for next season through a loan, letting them buy the 25-year-old Poland international for a reported €1 million fee.
Szczesny has been with the Gunners since 2009 and has been a regular in their starting line-up. However, with the arrival of David Ospina, he was forced to give up the number one spot. The Premier League side has also recently signed Petr Cech from Chelsea, which raised more questions regarding his future with the club.
The Warsaw native made his first-team debut with Arsenal in 2009 in a Carling Cup game against West Bromwich Albion. He played in all Premier League matches in 2012-13 season and has missed only one game in the following term.
It is believed that the Giallorossi preferred to get Szczesny on a permanent basis, but been declined by Arsenal. Instead, they agreed on a 12-month deal wherein Roma will be paying the footballer's full wages.
