John Hynes will be formally introduced as the new team manager of New Jersey Devils and would become the youngest coach in the NHL.
Hynes, worked for Devils general manager Ray Shero when Shero was
Pittsburgh Penguins GM. Though he doesn't have NHL coaching experience.
Shero made Hynes coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate in 2010. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were 231-126-8-13 and qualified for the AHL playoffs in all five seasons under Hynes.
The Devils sacked Peter DeBoer and Co-coaches Adam Oates, Scott Stevens and Lou Lamoriello, who Shero replaced as GM, were behind the New Jersey bench the rest of the season.
The Devils have missed the chance to make it on the Stanley Cup Playoffs four out of five seasons.
