The team announced that Rodgers has officially signed with the team, instantly making him one of the top prospects in the Rockies organization.
The 18 year-old phenom signed a $5.5 million bonus, according to MLB.com, and would put himn in a purple uniform until 2017.
"It depends on how I play," Rodgers said. "You never know what can happen."
Rodgers actually penned a letter to Rockies fans. An excerpt reads:
"I'm excited about learning more about the Rockies organization. I know it's a great organization, with one of my closest friends, Forrest Wall, having been drafted by them last year. It'll be great to have him sort of by my side, showing me the ropes and giving me tips. Hopefully, I can catch up to him so we can be playing side by side like we were when we were 11 and 12 years old."
