[Match Preview] 2014-15 Spain La Liga - Sevilla vs Real Madrid 05.03.2015

Beating Records and Chasing Dreams

Real Madrid are chasing history as they set to be the first ever squad to retain a Champions League championship. They are to face Juventus in the first leg of their semi final match on May 6 in Torino.

But, upon being questioned about next week's clash against the Italians, Real's coach Carlo Ancelotti was quick to retort, “Juventus? The most important game for us at the moment is against Sevilla and I'll field the strongest team.”

Los Merengues are currently in the second place of the Spanish table and are two points behind league leaders Barcelona after winning against Almeria last Wednesday night. They will be facing fifth place Sevilla on Saturday who are said to be their toughest opponents in their four remaining games.

As Real Madrid pursue their first La Liga title since 2012, they are determined to win all of their final matches and are ready to capitalize on any mistakes by the Blaugranes who will be visiting Cordoba earlier on Saturday.

"We're not convinced that Barcelona will drop points but we're certain we can win all four remaining games." Ancelotti said.

Gareth Bale, the 25 year old Wales winger is set to rejoin the team on their next engagement. He has recently recovered from a calf injury he sustained in the first five minutes of their 3-1 win over Malaga.

He had missed the team's last three matchups including their quarterfinal victory against Atletico Madrid.

"Bale has trained with the team, he's in good shape, and he'll be available for Sevilla.

"Gareth is fresher than some of the others because he has rested and he will help us at an important stage of the season." Ancelotti informed in a news conference.

However, French striker Karim Benzema will still be out of Saturday's lineup with a knee injury. He is expected to be back to training and may rejoin the group against Juve.

Spain's oldest football club, Sevilla who are also competing in Europa League semifinals are neck and neck with Valencia in local league standings. They are however, haven't lost a home game since March 2014 which spanned a total of 35 matches across all competitions.

Will Real Madrid close the gap between them and Barça? Find out on May 3, 2015 02:00 (GMT+8) at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
