Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the best is still to come from Sergio Aguero after the striker claimed the Barclays Golden Boot for the first time in 2014/15.
The 26-year-old scored the 26th goal of the campaign in his side's final-day win over Southampton on Sunday, meaning he finished five goals clear of the rest of the field. It is Aguero's highest tally for a season in his four years at Manchester City, his next best haul of 23 goals coming in his debut campaign in 2011/12.
His goals helped Manchester City become the BPL's top scorers this season, with 83 goals, as Pellegrini's side finished second to BPL champions Chelsea.
BPL top scorers 2014/15 :
Sergio Aguero Man City 26
Harry Kane Spurs 21
Diego Costa Chelsea 20
Charlie Austin QPR 18
Alexis Sanchez Arsenal 16
Eden Hazard Chelsea 14
Saido Berahino West Brom 14
Olivier Giroud Arsenal 14
Christian Benteke Aston Villa 13
"It is difficult to be impressed with Sergio because I work with him every day and know what a player he is," Pellegrini said. "He is improving a lot of things. It is very important for him to win the Golden Boot for the first time in his career.
"I am sure we are going to see the next years of 'Kun' as a better player. He is so good but he has chances to continue improving. I am very happy for him, not only because he won the Golden Boot, but because he is improving in the way he understands what football is. His contribution in our team is impossible to compare with another player.
"The very important thing for 'Kun' this year was when he came back from the World Cup and after we gave him 30 days he didn't start the first three games because I thought that it was important for him to make a good pre-season. We will see this year what is the best way for him to prepare for next season."
Finishing second in the goal-scoring charts was Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, who rounded off a memorable campaign with his goal of the season to give his side victory over Everton at Goodison Park. In fact, Kane has won Spurs more points than any other player in the BPL this season (24).
Diego Costa ended up in third with 20 goals in his first season with Chelsea while Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin was fourth after scoring 18 goals.
Aguero's award was not the only end-of-season honour collected by Man City, after goalkeeper Joe Hart collected the Barclays Golden Glove award for the fourth time.
The 28-year-old, who also won the honour in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13, notched up his 14th clean sheet of the campaign, one ahead of Swansea City's Lukasz Fabianski, Southampton's Fraser Forster and Liverpool's Simon Mignolet.
Hart reached the milestone in his 300th match for Manchester City.
