Chen Long won the Men's singles after Lin Dan missed the opportunity to claim his first Malaysia Open title.
Meanwhile Carolina Marin lived up to her World Championship title and once again proved herself to be one of the best women’s singles players in the world. Marin took the match by defeating Li Xuerui 19-21, 21-19, 21-17.
In the mixed doubles final, Zhang Nan / Zhao Yunlei reclaimed their world #1 spot with their 19th victory in 21 meetings with defending champions Xu Chen / Ma Jin.
