Surging Urawa Reds take on Kashiwa Reysol on May 26

The
Urawa Red Diamonds, after going winless for a stretch of three straight
games in the current 2013 J. League Division 1 season, are finally
getting it going again, thanks to their impressive display of sheer
brilliance in front of their hometown fans at the Saitama Stadium 2002
in their last two league match - ups, beating the Kashima Antlers, 3 - 1
before annihilating Sagan Tosu, 6 - 2, to let them climb back up to
third in the league table.
That's right football fans, the Urawa Reds are back to
the very spot where they left off last year, 3rd best in the top flight
of Japanese football, as they managed to put their side in an excellent
position to have a go for the top of the standings at this point of the
campaign and win the league championship. The last time the Red
Diamonds pulled it off was almost seven years ago, in 2006, so you just
know how bad they want to be on top again.
On
May 26, the Urawa Red Diamonds have a date with Kashiwa Reysol at the
National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo and if the Reds are interested in
reclaiming the glory of their title - clinching campaign in 2006 back,
they better keep on winning because standing on their way to the top of
the table are the defending J. League Division 1 champions Sanfrecce
Hiroshima and they won't be that easy to catch. The reigning league
title holders continue to lord over the standings, winning four of their
last six face - offs in Japanese football's premier club competition,
and with the way those guys have been playing, it just proves that the
defending champs are not showing any signs of slowing down for the Urawa
Reds to play catch - up.
The Urawa Reds, listed at *2.27 to beat Kashiwa
Reysol, look determined to bring home a J. League Division 1 title again
lately, showing their sheer brilliance in their last two games that put
the rest of the league on notice. Against the Kashima Antlers, the Reds
fell behind in the second half after Takuya Nozawa scored the go -
ahead goal for his side. Unfortunately for Kashima, that's when the Reds
would start to work their way to controlling the contest as Daisuke
Nasu evened it up four minutes later for Urawa before Shinzo Koroki and
Tsukasa Umesaki came up with two more goals for the Red Diamonds to
seize the victory.
In
their very next contest, the Urawa Red Diamonds were up against Sagan
Tosu and this time, they made sure they won't fall behind as Yuki Abe
came up with the first score of the match - up to give the Reds the
early lead. Yomoaki Makino would add into that lead in the 49th minute,
the first of what would become an exciting series of finishes in the
second half that saw the two sides trade goals. Makino would be answered
by Sagan's Shohei Okada, seven minutes after Makino's score, to cut
into the Red Diamonds' lead. Unfortunately for them, Shinzo Koroki would
come up with his for Urawa to let his side pad their lead even further
and be ahead, 3 - 1, in the 65th minute.
Still, Sagan Tosu just wouldn't give up as Yoshiki
Takahashi would score his first goal of the contest within a minute of
Koroki's to let his side cut into Urawa's lead at 3 - 2. That's when the
Red Diamonds would finish their rivals off, scoring the next three
goals of the match - up, thanks to Genki Haraguchi, Daisuke Nasu, and
Shinya Yajima - four minutes in extra time, to complete Urawa's
domination of Sagan en route to their 6 - 2 victory.
With the momentum the Urawa Reds are in, the odds are
stacked against Kashiwa Reysol when they play against one of the hottest
football clubs in Japanese football's top flight this 2013 J. League
Division 1 season. Listed by at *3.25 by SBOBET and *3.30
by Bet365 to beat the Reds on May 26, Reysol need to bring their top
form to the National Olympic Stadium if they want to have a chance.
Luckily for them, they are playing pretty good themselves lately.
Winners
of three of their last five match - ups in their J. League Division 1
campaign, Kashiwa Reysol head into the contest looking to generate
enough momentum to start challenging for the lead in the league
standings. The last time they finished at the top of the mountain was
almost two years ago in 2011, when they won the league in their return
to the top flight following their dominant run in the J2 League. With
still more than half of the campaign to play, Reysol still have more
than enough time to go for the No.1 spot and a win over the Urawa Reds
on May 26 would be a good way to start.
