Sasha Kaun signs two-year deal with Cleveland Cavaliers

Cavaliers, center Sasha Kaun agree to two-year deal
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Sasha Kaun agreed to a two-year deal, adding the big man to the team's rotation as a possible backup to Timofey Mozgov.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, the contract includes a second year option wherein Kaun would have the option to explore free agency after the 2015-2016 NBA season. There are no words yet on his salary.

Cavaliers have acquired the rights to the 30-year-old on draft night in 2008. He played for CSKA Moscow for the last six seasons and for the Russian national team, which is being managed by Cavaliers coach David Blatt.

The Russian center has won an NCAA championship back in 2008 with the Kansas Jayhawks, and won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics alongside Blatt and Mozgov. He is a great backup to his compatriot although the question of his minutes still remains.

Kaun's addition to the Eastern Conference champions is a welcome development, especially if they would want to improve on rim protection and frontcourt depth which were seriously lacking last season.
