Manchester
United fell short in negotiations with Barcelona regarding the
transfer of forward Barcelona. What's worse about that is that the
28-year old Spanish player landed to their rivals Chelsea. Where did
the Red Devils go wrong? What made Pedro sign with Chelsea?
It
is on the effort of the club. Pedro said it was Chelsea boss Jose
Mourinho that helped him decide about his future. The Portuguese
manager's conscious effort to speak with him was enough to convince
him to sign with the Stamford Bridge-based club.
"He
[Mourinho] is one of the main reasons why I’m here," Pedro
told the Chelsea's official website. This is the first interview of
Pedro ever since signing with the English Premier League club.
"He
phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team
stronger. He has won titles wherever he has been. I am really looking
forward to playing under him and hopefully winning more titles."
Pedro
also confirmed that former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas also
played a part in his decision, as well as Spain teammate Diego Costa
and Cesar Azpilicueta. These guys, he claimed will make the
transition easier for him.
"He’s
a great player, he’s got brilliant vision and he links up really
well with the other attacking players. I know we work well together
on the pitch so I can’t wait to play with him again.
"I
have also played with Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta before, for
the national team, so I feel very comfortable here."
