For the 2015-16 season, the Mark Messier Leadership Award will need a new sponsor after Bridgestone discontinues its support to the annual recognition.
According to a Bridgestone spokesman, the multinational auto and truck parts manufacturer will no longer extend its partnership with the Messier Award following its new deal with the National Hockey League (NHL).
The Mess is an award presented by Mark Messier, who is considered as one of the greatest NHL players of all time. It has been given annually since the 2006-07 season.
For the 2014-15 term, the acknowledgement has been given to Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks. Every year's decision has been met with doubts and questions, as the finalists and winner were both chosen by Messier himself.
As of writing time, there's no update as for who will be the new title sponsor.
