The Blues manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he thinks both Gary Cahill and Diego Costa will be ready to face Arsenal in their match at the Community Shield this weekend.
Cahill and Costa sustained injuries in their clash against Barcelona earlier, which they have won in a penalty shoot-out. The said match concluded their pre-season games at the International Champions Cup.
The England national vice-captain was substituted in the last few minutes of the game after he scored the second goal for Chelsea, which led to a 2-2 draw with the Spaniards. Cahill is believed to have broken his nose, while Costa felt a niggle in his hamstring.
"Cahill has a chance of a broken nose, maybe yes, maybe no. If no, perfect. If yes, he will get a mask tomorrow to be ready for Sunday," Mourinho is quoted by the club's official website.
"Diego felt a little thing in his hamstring. We believe it is just a feeling, no more than that, but we have to wait."
The Premier League champions first took the lead with an Eden Hazard opener, but Blaugrana's pair Luis Suarez and Sandro Ramirez put the La Liga side ahead before Cahill's late leveller. Chelsea eventually won 4-2 in penalties.
