In his twitter account, Al Horford announced that he won't be suiting up for the Dominican Republic in the upcoming FIBA Americas tournament that will be held on on August 31 in Mexico City, Mexico.
The 29-year-old Atlanta Hawks centre decided to give his spot to other players. In his post he gave thanks to his fans and wished the team the best of luck for the competition. He stated that he'll be taking the most out of the NBA off-season to recover and continue to improve his game.
Atlanta Hawks had a tough 2014-15 season when their injury-plagued line-up was swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals.
During the NBA Summer League, Dominican head coach Kenny Atkinson, who is also a part of the Hawks staff said that Horford was "50/50" on playing.
